Polar Bears goes Green in Japan Zoo

Visitors at Higashiyama zoo and Botanical gardens were startled to see three polar bears sporting a green coat. Turns out that the pond the polar bears swam in was infested with algae overgrowth. High temperature climate encourages the speedy growth of the water algae around the month of July and August.
Alarmed visitors questioned if the polar bears are sick due to the moldy appearance of algae. Zoo officials stated that the algae are usually hard to rinse off when it enters the bear’s fur. The bears are expected to return to their usual cream color when the algae season is over.
